Whether you’re on a short business trip out west or you’ve relocated to beautiful Vancouver, there are a few must-see sights to tick off your list before you can say you’ve seen the best that the city has to offer. With so much to include, we’ve concentrated this time on top spots in downtown Vancouver. Check it out!
Vancouver Art Gallery: Get a great big dose of culture all at once wandering through this impressive and acclaimed collection. Housed in a turn-of-the-century building, you’ll find four floors of art from local BC painters to international stars of the art world.
Stanley Park: 1,000 acres in the heart of the city, Stanley park is a true urban oasis. No matter how stressful your trip has been, or how homesick you may feel, the soaring mountains in the distance, the pacific ocean rippling in the breeze, and the evergreens swaying around you will lift your spirits in no time. On a grey or chilly day, you can pop into the excellent aquarium and see creatures from the Amazon to the Arctic.
English Bay Beach: If you don’t have time for day trips, you’re going to love that this beach is just a few blocks from the downtown core. Catch the sun and take a dip in the water in summer, or bundle up and breath in the salty sea air in winter.
Gastown: Soak up a little history in the neighborhood where it all began. Wander the cobblestone streets of Gastown, Vancouver’s birthplace, admire the Victorian buildings in the evening lamplight, and grab a delicious dinner at one of the local eateries.
Vancouver Lookout: Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from this 430 foot tower in downtown Vancouver. You’ll have views of the city skyline as well as the majestic North Shore Mountains. On a good day you can see as far as Vancouver Island off the Pacific coast.
