There’s a reason why we have apartment rentals in El Poblado, Medellin – it’s a great neighborhood that’s super accessible, modern, and full of things to do on your time off. Never been? Here’s a quick rundown:
Located in the south east of Medellin, El Poblado is also known as Las Manzanas de Oro (The Golden Apples) because it’s the main center of the industrial and commercial life in a city that represents the second largest economy of Colombia.
Considered one of the most prestigious (and wealthiest) neighborhoods in Medellin, this upscale, tree-lined neighborhood is like an oasis in the middle of a loud, busy city, and you’ll find green spaces and gurgling creeks all across the barrio. You’ll also find all the hallmarks of western elite living – everything from yoga studios, to dog grooming, to a wealth of plastic surgery clinics!
One of the great things about El Poblado is that it’s very safe at night, and you can wander down the Zona Rosa to the many great clubs, bars and restaurants surrounding Parque lleras. Even Parque Poblado is full of young people at night – perfect for soaking in the warm evening air and getting to know a few locals.
If you’re hoping for a little retail therapy – this neighborhood won’t disappoint. You can stop into the many small boutiques on the winding streets, or get everything under one roof at malls such as Santa Fe, La Strada, Oviedo and El Tesoro.
If you’re looking for banks, supermarkets and restaurants, take a stroll don’t Poblados Golden Mile, or Avenida del Poblado, a busy commercial strip that takes you all the way down to the neighboring community of Envigado. Stop off in San Fernando Plaza for a Colombian coffee in the shade, and some great people-watching.
